Hunter's Girl is Lena Bourne's 4th novel in her Devil's Nightmare MC: Next Generation series. The characters have been well written with continuous growth since the start of the series. This book has love, heartache, anger, violence, spice, and HEA plus more. It even has flashbacks throughout the book that show the journey Hunter and Trixie have taken. Hunter's Girl started in Lena Bourne's co-written book Breaker's Vow with Elizabeth Knox from her Satan's Raiders MC series. I suggest reading that before this one so you have the whole backstory.
Hunter is the son of the President of the Devil's Nightmare MC, Cross and he's having problems with his dad feeling like his dad doesn't think he's cut out for the club life and that he's too soft. This causes a lot of problems in Hunter, especially with Trishia gone. Trishia is a foster child who's had a really hard life. They met when she stayed at The Phoenix House after her foster dad abused her. Trishia goes by the name Trixie to everyone except Hunter. It is her way to hide who she really is. All Trixie has learned from life is how to run and to run when things get hard instead of facing it. That is how Hunter and she have been off and on for 10 years. In this book, they are off and the last time we saw Trixie was when Hunter was almost killed and she had to save him. He woke up with her gone again and this time he tells himself he was not going to look for her again. When Cross sends him on an assignment in L.A. he knows this is his chance to prove to Cross he has what it takes and he's good enough. Cross makes Chance and Jax go so they head to L.A. and Chance makes him run into Trixie, it just wasn't the way it was supposed to happen. Things are going well with Hunter and Trixie and she agrees to go home with him and not leave this time. Unfortunately, she's gotten into some trouble with a customer at the strip club she works at and while Hunter is away handling club business the trouble finds her. Hunter thinks the worst when he gets back and she's gone but learns quickly that isn't the case. Will Hunter find Trixie in time to save her? Will Trixie go home to be with him and not leave again?
This book was such a good second chance story that I had to give it a 5-star rating along with a 3-spicy rating. We've learned about Hunter and Trixie throughout the series and to finally have their book and get the full story was great. A love as strong as theirs doesn't just go away by leaving. There were awesome new characters we met and crossover characters that went well with the story. I highly recommend checking it out if you like MC romances or second-chance romances. This pulls at your heartstrings for Hunter and Trixie.
*I received this book for free. I voluntarily gave an honest review.*

Heart-pounding investigation

More than a police procedural, this investigation into missing persons and killings keeps the reader guessing about the killer and the relationships among the investigators. A recommended read for fans of suspense and crime stories.

This is a wonderful anthology, with something for everyone's taste. I cannot review all of the stories, so here's three chosen (almost) at random:
Marie Skye's 'I Still Hate You'. I really wanted to like this story and in the end I did, but I have to say that at the beginning, with the complicated history between Ash and Perrie I found it hard going.
Maria Ann Green's 'Once Upon That Time He Was Stuck in the Friend Zone' is a friends-to-lovers about Colton and Emma. An interesting story, well-written with a good supporting cast. The likeable protagonists devastate one another, but in the end…There is a thing about Colt's nickname for Emma and in the end it will make you cry.
Dakota Davies' 'Falling for My Fling'. I'm a big fan of Davies and bought this book to read this story and it doesn’t disappoint - except it isn't a HEA - yet. The great outdoors is important to this author; she has written about swimming, zip-lining, rock-climbing and here it's rafting. Lori is working at a summer school while waiting to go to Stanford. She meets Caleb, who works for his family's rafting company and who is known for his frequent, short-term hook-ups. There is a lot of background angst for both protagonists which makes their feelings for one another all the more sweet.

3.5 -4 stars

I love anthologies. The stories are different and I get to either discover new authors or enjoy some of my favorites. Some of the stories were great in this and made me anxious for more (I'm talking to you Adelaide Forest) and others were solid.

The reasons that this didn't rank higher, was due to the fact that there were several issues in the book. One story had the quotation marks upside down on every quote. One story went into the story as a flashback in italics but never left the italics go for the rest of the story. Some stories had a lot of grammar or spelling errors. These things combined just made me frustrated with the collection of stories.

Again, not all the stories were bad, several of them were actually fantastic. Yet, the problems with the books that had issues diminished the quality of the collection overall.

This is a prequel but is totally satisfying to read, unlike many prequels. The writing is good and makes a comfortable space for the reader to engage with solving the mystery. My copy had typos that reduced my rating of it.½

The Imagery

The imagery in this book was amazing. I couldn’t get over how the description of feelings could bring the scene to life. Can’t wait to read the next one.

Isn’t it always the case, even in real life, that somewhere there’s a geeky teenage girl with her proverbial horn-rimmed eyeglasses who has a crush on some big-headed high school football jock, a jock who totally ignores and rejects her every attempt to connect him. As time goes on the jock [Logan] is now a NFL star player who has become a household name and women are forever willing to throw themselves at his feet, and Jo has gotten rid of her geeky outward appearance still possesses the gorgeous shape she had then, but even more so now.

While Jo refuses to have anything to do with Logan because of his continuous rejection, Logan now seems incapable of getting Jo out of his mind since she’s become the reason he’s now home-sick for his sleepy and snowy mountain hometown. And even she’s evading him as best as she can, Logan is determined to make Jo his woman at particularly any cost.

Will Logan get what he’s now after? Will Jo finally let her true feelings towards Logan come to the surface and allow him back into her life? The interplay between these two individuals is fraught of anguish, love and desire that luckily ends in a HEA which we as romance readers can’t resist reading.

For having given her readers this wonderful, holiday themed romance story I’m giving Ms. Bourne the 5 STARS she deserves.

Hot and Sexy!

Read Episode 1 and was waiting impatiently for Episode 2. It's full of angst and Gail almost devotes herself to deny love again. I won't give off spoilers, but it leaves you hanging. Can't wait to read the next episode. Bourne has a great power with words as she is able to convey the high emotional ride that Gail is on, with not just her love life, or her pushing it away, but her great lost that she needs to deal with. A great story that I fell in love with, so much I had to read the episodes again, back to back. I can't wait until I'm able to read the next one.

I’m a huge fan of romance, especially angsty NA romance that’s dark and deep. This book is all that and more. I don’t remember the last time I read such an emotionally gripping book! Maybe never! I was literally right there with Gail the whole time, for every emotional up and down. I was so engrossed in the story I didn’t skip a single word, and I read the whole book in one sitting. Sure it’s a short book, but it’s not that short!

I loved how real all the characters were, it was almost like watching a reality TV show! The story is solid and the writing excellent, and I can’t wait for the rest of the books!

I heartily recommend this book to fans of steamy NA romance and dark romance! Fair warning though, the book has some very HOT scenes.

Great book! I could't put it down and read it in practically one sitting. It's not your typical military romance in that there's not much military action, but I enjoyed the love growing between Adam and Taylor, and just couldn't read fast enough to get to the HEA. It's a very emotional and real story, almost raw at times. I just loved the depth of the characters! Highly recommended!

Intimately steamy

I am not a big fan of serials, but this book captivated me from the beginning, and I will probably continue to read all of the books. It's filled with angst and a intimate connection between Gail and Scott. A great read and it leads the reader on an unpredictable ride between Gail and Scott. If you enjoy a good serial, filled with angst and romance, this should be the start of an impeccable journey.
