J.D. Brink

This little novella/short story was an excellent read! The plot follows Corporal Cranston Thorne and Captain Thanos Thorne through an "alien" attack on their bases. Corporal Thorne must get his family's legacy back by saving the day and restoring his name (since this rebellious man had to go against everything his family stands for and get lowered in the ranks because of his bad behaviour).

This short story was a pleasant surprise! The only bad thing about it was the fact that it was so short! The action scenes were well written and described in a way that I could actually see what was happening. I want more of these characters and this story as soon as possible! I must get my hands on more of J.D. Brink's writing!

The story would have been longer, but for a short story it was excellent with not many faulty points in it. The plot moved well and there were no areas of slow or boring. This is perfect for those interested in action, sci-fi or adventure (and want a quick, good read!).

Four out of five stars! I would have liked a longer story that went into the character's back story a bit more, and the relationship between the Father and Son duo.
