This is a collection of essays, poems, and short creative pieces about forests. All of the writers who contributed spent time in the Andrews Experimental Forest in Oregon, where a plot of old-growth forest has been set aside for a 200-year research project. Scientists are studying long-term patterns of growth and decay, and paying particular attention to the fortunes of the Snowy Owl. Meanwhile, creative writers are also invited to residences in the forest.

Like any anthology, there's some stuff in here people will like and some that they won't, and every reader will appreciate a different group of writings. I was particularly interested in the essays about the forest ecosystem and what scientists are learning from it.… (meer)
