Lauren B read at Fox library storytime

"One day a boy woke up with a bunny on his head." This rhyming tale shows that you can go about your day just as usual, even with a bunny (named Fred) on your head! Even the boy's mom agrees. "But what would she think a few minutes later, when his sister walked in with a small alligator?"

Cute, and witty, and most likely funny to the young child who discovers this book. A girl awakes to find a gator on her head. The following pages contain rhymes that explain the beauty of a gator to the girl who has one on her head.

I would use this book when modeling using expression or teaching a lesson on poetry. I think students will like this lesson because it tells the story from the bear's perspective.

A boy wakes up one morning with a little white bunny on his head. He names him Fred. They go downstairs to eat some bread. (Did I mention this is a book in rhyme?) The boy’s mother becomes concerned, but the bunny assures her that “you can do anything with a bunny on your head.” The bunny’s list includes reading a book, speaking French, riding in a bobsled, exploring the sea, and more. The boy’s mother feels much better about the situation, until the boy’s sister walks in with a small alligator on her head!

The rhyming text keeps this fun read aloud moving along at a brisk pace. The font is quite large, making it easy to read upside down during storytime and for kids to follow along with the words. The humorous illustrations are done with pen and ink and pop out against single color backgrounds. I especially love the illustrations of the boy and his bunny zooming by on a moped and diving under the sea with matching snorkel masks.

Juggling Pug to me was reminiscent of Dr. Seuss, how Juggling Pugs get in and out of trouble and learn how a pug is supposed to act, reminded me of The Cat in the Hat.

A perfectly delightful book about a girl who discovers she has a gator on her head. No page is wasted and the text and pictures are great. Very cute, very sweet, a real treat!

One morning, a boy wakes up with a rabbit on his head and, although his mother is skeptical, he soon discovers that he can be fed, ride a bobsled, and even look cool with a rabbit on his head.

This pair's A Boy and His Bunny worked because it was novel. This is a cheap rehash that lacks the charm of the original. Sad, sad, sad.

One morning, Mack the bear wakes up with Zack the boy on his back, but as Mack tries to complete a schedule that is "jam-packed", Zack suggests that he relax and take a second to smell the lilacs.
