No hack'n'slash here. No blood spilled in the material world, or clever plots and stratagems. All of the struggles and progress seem to occur on some metaphorical, allegorical battlefield of the mind, and everyone's own flaws and unresolved issues are at least as much the obstacles and antagonists as those explicitly depicted as such. Reads like a cross between Alice in Wonderland and, for religious scaffolding, Chronicles of Narnia. At times I felt as fustrated as the main character Ponce in the direction of the adventure, but it was all worth it in the end.
