Phyllis S. Busch

Phyllis S. Busch does an exemplary job of explaining the commonplace names given to familiar wildflowers. Just for good measure, she's also supplied the reader with the formal latin names. It was a pleasure to read these brief, simple accounts of how each plant came to be known. Just enough information is given to produce a memorable link in the brain, easy to call up for future reference. I thought the writing was charming, as were the detailed illustrations. Wildflowers and the Stories Behind their Names would be a lovely and most helpful companion on a nature hike.… (meer)
