Stew Cameron

This was a surprise found in a box I brought down from the attic. My parents stared at the cover for several seconds and flipped through the comics a few times before the great Aha! moment. Years ago, before I was born (26 3 to 5 year = roughly 30 years ago) they went to the Calgary Stampede. I guess they haven't seen the book since they moved to the U.S., because the box it was in and the photos that kept it company were likely that old.

I enjoyed the comics. I love horses, mountains, trails, and always wanted to join a pack horse adventure. The horses in the images, despite being cartoons, represented real horse behavior well. They are certainly quirky animals and inexperienced riders can...have a rough time, just like what Stew Cameron illustrated. Besides the equine antics, I most loved a comic toward the back advertising that a girl needs a certain kind of horse. Forget a man. Horses rule.… (meer)
