Annabel Carothers

This book was given to me many years ago when I reviewed books for Michiana Magazine in the South Bend Tribune. From the first page I was mesmerized by the characters, the imagery, the language of Scotland, Anabel Carothers brings the Scottish highlands and the Island of Mull to life and weaves a tale of several generations of the Lamont clan, from 1913 to 1978, who live passionately and love passionately, who possess a fierce loyalty to each other, as well as to the land they love. I was caught up in the family dramas as the marvelous characters cast their spell on me. Kilcaraig is over 500 pages, but it ended too soon. I had hoped for a sequel, only to learn of the death of Miss Carothers. Kilcaraig holds a prominent spot on my bookshelf for reading again and again.
