FROM AMAZON: A mystery wrapped in a myth about the origins of humanity.

A race to find an ancient pyramid hidden in plain sight.

A secret so dangerous its guardians will kill to protect it.

And an ancient covenant that might save the world, or destroy it completely.

In 1655 a group of explorers from the Emerald Star entered the Namibian Desert in search of an ancient relic rumored to be hidden in a secret temple. None of the crew ever returned – but stories of their mysterious demise continued to be told.

In the present-day Turkish subterranean city of Derinkuyu, a strange wooden placard is discovered floating in an old well. It’s covered in the script of a language long forgotten, but Sam Reilly has seen the text before. The words suggest an ancient race might still exist, and are in the process of building a new temple.

The question is – is it the same temple where Dr. Billie Swan is being held prisoner?

FROM CHIRP: Off the coast of Antarctica, a cruise ship passenger wakes up panicked because she’s the only one left onboard. Sam Reilly knows the incident is somehow connected to a secret government project reaching back over 50 years — and he also knows he’s the only one who can prevent catastrophe…

A secret project is about to be reactivated…
In the middle of the Pacific Ocean in 1962, at the height of the cold war, the U.S. military experimented with electromagnetic pulses created by detonating high atmosphere nuclear bombs. The project was code named Starfish Prime.

The primary objective was to develop the ability to produce an EMP with enough force to knock out an entire nation’s communication systems.

The secondary objective, along with its consequences, was deemed too important to national security to ever be released.

In the present day, in the Weddell Sea off the coast of Antarctica, a woman wakes up on a cruise ship to discover she’s the only person left aboard, despite no apparent fault with the ship…

… and Sam Reilly may be the only person standing in the way of The Cassidy Project.

FROM CHIRP: The offer – $20 billion split between four leading scientists on alternative energies to purchase and then squash their research lines, which include the recent discovery of a powerful new energy source capable of replacing mankind’s reliance on fossil fuels.

There’s no doubt their discovery is worth ten times that much. But will any one of them live if they refuse?

At the same time, the greatest technological advancement in warfare since the creation of the Atomic bomb has been discovered, and is being offered to the highest bidder.

There is just one problem though; the seller might no longer have any control of the weapon.

Can Sam Reilly weave his way through the web of industrial and political espionage before the human race loses its greatest fight for survival.

An ancient shipwreck.
A pyramid half a mile below the sea.
And a puzzle that must be solved before it destroys humanity.

More than 200 years ago, the Emily Rose became shipwrecked on the southern coast of Australia. The survivors were forced to walk nearly a thousand miles through the unexplored land to reach the only established settlement, Sydney Cove.

Hundreds of miles into their journey they discovered something strange. Something that couldn’t possibly exist.

In present day, Sam Reilly and his team of ocean investigators are exploring the unknown cause of the widespread death of sea life within the Gulf of Mexico.

The two mysteries may just be entangled, and failure to solve them both will result in the greatest threat to ever face the human race.

Found this author and 26 of his Sam Reilly series at CHIRP and purchased them all. Just getting started. but I,m very impress by the story and the narration. Like that all these books have the same narrator.

FROM CHIRP: At the dawn of World War II, a secret airship containing dangerous cargo escaped from Nazi Germany in the dead of night — and was never seen again. Decades later, Sam, the son of a shipping mogul, unearths a key clue to solving the long-buried mystery. And so begins the treasure hunt of a lifetime.

This author frustrates me to no end. He’s a fantastic writer but every book I’ve read by him has several serious editing issues, like the big one in this book. The characters are all admiring a glass skull that a page later is removed from a briefcase. How’s that even possible. ??? Dialog is often unrealistic although it improved in this book. It always makes me want to stop right there. But his descriptions are top notch—some of the best landscape descriptions I’ve read, such as his descriptions of the Skeleton Coast of Namibia and the hidden underground lake in the Kalahari Desert. They are fantastic! He does his homework and he does it well. With a bit more care, these could easily be 5-star thrillers.

Fifteen years ago, eight-year-old Ethan Jones watched a stranger bury something in the mining ruins of the Rhyolite Desert in Nevada. Even at his young age, he knew what he’d just seen was important.

In present day, a US Navy SEAL takes refuge in a secret chamber beneath the ancient streets of Syria and discovers an unusual stone artifact, like nothing he’d ever seen before.

When news of the discovery reaches Sam Reilly, he is forced to return to his past, where his search for the master builders originated and complete a mission he’d hoped could have stayed unfinished forever.

This is a thriller trying to do too much with too little editing. It had a distracting lack of consistency (did Zara have a tinge or a heavy French accent? did the Vatican know about the eruption of a new island or did it not?). It often felt like the author juggled chapters & forgot to adjust the timing. Dialog early in the book was cringeworthy but improved. And it could be very confusing. Why a thumbs up? He’s a good writer in need of a good editor, who’d minimize the thriller tropes, fix the consistency and dialog problems, make his explanations of predicting the future clearer, and proofread it. Really. The author’s descriptions of places and people were excellent. He kept it moving. So much potential. I hope he finds an editor, or spends more time cleaning up the books instead of churning them out at breakneck speed (or so it seems).

This was a good palate cleanser: nonstop thriller action. A Colorado man goes missing in the ancient pueblos and his wracked body is found in subterranean caves in the Bering Strait. How? About 2/3 thru I learned the underlying story is connected to the first 7 books in the series. But I took it in stride and enjoyed it nonetheless.

I love this series! The adventure and characters always have a terrific myth or legend, a bit of paranormal, but lots of action and suspense! It's a cross between a Clive Cussler and Indiana Jones! Never boring!
The narration was excellent as usual!

action-adventure, thriller, suspense, paramilitaries

Excellent adventure full of twists and suspense! Held my attention from beginning to end, even though this is the first I've read in the series. The publisher's blurb is pretty limited, but I don't do spoilers either. I only know that I really got into it!
David Gilmore is great at interpreting the story in narration.
I received the free audio copy in a giveaway. I win!

The Ironclad Covenant
A Sam Reilly Novel
By: Christopher Cartwright
Narrated by: David Gilmore
This is an Audible book I requested and the review is voluntary. This book is another great story! Treasure hunting for civil war money! You will never guess where it ends up! Lol! This has so many twists and turns and I was wondering how in the world and of this was connected but slowly and carefully the author teases pieces together to give just a glance at the picture. He does this through out the book building up suspense. Meanwhile there are bad guys after Sam and others! Great escape tricks too! Loved it! Eat your heart out Indiana Jones!
The narration was excellent as usual! Thanks!

Omega Deep by Christopher Cartwright and narrated by David Gilmore is an Audible book I requested and the review is voluntary. I absolutely love these books. I love this book for the technology that is discussed in it. Something that DARPA has had for some time but is little known. I personally think it was used to simulate the planes in 9/11. I guess that's why I really got into this . Of course the great story, characters, plot, suspense, action, and adventure had plenty to do with it too, lol! These are always exciting! The narration is always spot on too! Great job guys!!!

The Third Temple by Christopher Cartwright and narrated by David Gilmore is an Audible book I requested and the review is voluntary. I love these books! They are a cross between Clive Cussler's Dirk Pitt adventures , Indiana Jones, and Lara Drift Tomb Raider. There is lots of action, adventure, treasure, clues, history, and supernatural or borders on supernatural elements. Great characters, suspense, and loads of trouble find them, or they find it. Never disappointed with a San Reilly book! The narration is great for this series. He has a slightly gruff voice and it is perfect for these adventure novels. He performs the women without the gruffness, lol.

This is an audible book I requested and the review is voluntary.
I love books looking for artifacts but this one is about Nostradamus, prophecy, and of course the usual action, adventure, suspense, and near death multiple times. Never dull in Sam Reilly's life! These books are like chips, you really can't read just one! They are addictive! I am hooked.
The narrator is awesome at keeping the emotions running fast and hard. That is how the book runs. He also is great at all the voices that is like family to me now. Great job!

This is an audible book I requested and the review is voluntary.
These Sam Reilly books just keep getting better and better! They are part Dan Brown, Indiana Jones, and James Bond but more grounded. Always lots of twists and turns, adventure, action, advanced science or a touch of science fiction, and wonderful characters. By now I feel like the crew is part family! Lol.
The narrator is great and it helps having the same one all the time. He does a wonderful job.

Rogue Wave
Sam Reilly, Book 4
By: Christopher Cartwright
Narrated by: David Gilmore
This is an audible book I requested and the review is voluntary. I loved this book best so far in the series! Although it has sci-fi which I love, I had to stretch my imagination a bit but it was still good. That is what books are for anyway, to escape. I loved the premise of the story which I am not telling or it will spoil everything. Once you read it you will see why. Rogue waves are fascinating and horrifying at the same time, I guess that is what really draws me to this also.
The narrator is great for the Sam Reilly novels, a slightly gruff voice that you would expect a manly man to be, lol. He surprises me when he is able to do the females so well.
