Here is another one about home. The beautiful landscape painters school who used to come there to the mountains to lovely Victorian lodges to paint the river beds and forests in the long hot summers. Like my Great Grandmother said, "before the logging and the mines ruined this place." These pictures are delightful and dark and sinewy, in the days when average gents knew how to paint landscapes (and warscapes) with watercolours and oils in the open air to amuse themselves and their girlfriends and document first hand the world around them. Today, one of these pictures hangs in the Union League Club in NYC and I like to admire it when I get the chance to go there. We have one painted by a Great Uncle Albert as a young man of a deer drinking water from a moving stream.… (meer)
