The is a collection of useful plants from California. Each plant has a description, and uses past and present. It includes legends and lore, as well as recipes to use with the plants. The recipe I was most interested in was the one for mint jelly, since I have so much mint growing at my house. There are line drawings for most of the plants so they are recognizable. In the center there are six pages of color photographs with the plant identification beneath them. The text is somewhat small for readers young and old. There is a table of contents, suggested references, a list of phylogenetic relationships, an index to plant uses, and a general index. This would be great for a sixth grade class project.… (meer)
