This book talks about sea sponges and what they are, where they are found and the different types that are in the ocean.
This book had great artwork and I think children would really enjoy looking at it.
As an extension, I have always wanted to set up a small salt water tank in a classroom, since I have them at home. I think the children would love to help take care of it and watch the fish that are probably not in their homes.

After reading the book, I would classify it as a survey book rather than a life cycle book. It includes some great photographs of many different colored crayfish and even one after it sheds its shell. Fun facts at the bottom of the pages kept me checking to see if missed any interesting facts. I was glad to see the inclusion of crawfish boils at the end of the book.
The book was short and basic. It would have been nice to see size comparisons of the animals and maybe a side-by-side of different crayfish species. I felt like I could have learned a lot more from a video about crayfish. Reading the book did not give me a sense of how they move and swim and eat and fight.
I'll let you know if I think differently of them next time I roll up to the boiling table.… (meer)
