Lori Cooper

Being from the South, The Babbling Brook was such a special read for me. Lori Cooper's use of descriptive language brought back memories of living in a little house in the woods with my family as a kid. The smell of rain and the sound of an approaching storm are brought to mind while reading her poetry. She includes wonderfully powerful poems addressing the relationships, as well. Overall, this book is a great mix of emotions for any reader.

There really are a lot of names in this book!

This book has the best names. There are thousands of names from around the world with meanings and alternate spellings for each one. The best baby name book you could buy!

This book contains about 55000 more names than a prospective parent needs to flick through, including names that only the very cruel would bestow upon their offspring (any takers for Blondeliah? - it's from Old English and it means fair haired....).

Still, once you've flicked through this, you know you've been reasonably thorough in your research.

It's nice to see a book that contains names of Aboriginal Australian origin too.
