The Guide to Catholic Literature 1888-1940 on page 275 says: "St. John Bosco, St. Louis, St. Aloysius, and 18 other saints or near saints are presented in the book as the author presented them to the boys of the CYO. The author's theme is that the saints were real men and women (or boys and girls) far removed, indeed, from the category of 'sissies'.
