Private investigator Max Warner was working on a case with his partner Doug, trying to prove that wealthy Sandra Applewhite Gillman was murdered by her husband. (Sandra’s body was never recovered.) But after a year and a half, he reluctantly puts the case aside for a new one. Doug is concerned for Max, he thinks he has fallen for Sandra and has become obsessed with her. Doug persuades Max to take on a new case with him. But when they meet the man (Charles Dawson) they are investigating, they meet his daughter Nicole (Nicky), who is the spitting image of Sandra…

This was a thoroughly enjoyable and interesting story and I was curious to see how everything would turn out. I particularly liked the setting through the first half of the book, the Montana mountain that Nicky and her father owned, lived, and ran their fly-fishing excursions. It was fun reading about the excursion they went on and meeting the additional cast of characters/men that went on it. Nicky was a very capable heroine. She was no shrinking violet and was quite gutsy at times. Max was a good hero, though a bit over protective in situations that Nicky was very qualified in dealing with. I also liked the setting towards the second half of the book, in the Caribbean, with the suspense, hurricane, etc…
