Very interesting read for me as a former competitive swimmer in my teens who watched the GDR athletes debacle and their dominance in sport at the time. Sharron Davies was very much affected by this and speaks out via this book. She is standing up for women in sport against the onslaught of males competing in female sport and the administrative organisations that allow this to continue. It’s a complex read with the laws, history and numerous organisations involved, but definitely worth reading. It’s really important for the future of women and girls fitness and sports.

The 'weekend' part is a bit iffy, but this book did teach me how to swim. I had taken a swim class in college, but that basically taught me how not to drown rather than how to swim. Years later when I wanted to start lap swimming, I checked this book out of the library every time I needed to learn a new stroke. The instructions and pictures are clear and the informative. Highly recommended.
