At The Southern Table with Paula Deen🍎🍎🍎🍎🍌

150 classic recipes to share with family and friends.
Wonderful, mostly simple to make dishes from the delicious kitchen of Paula Deen. Lots of glossy pics, and almost every page a recipe. Enjoyed this!

I've always been a fan of Paula Deen's shows and her food. I've made a few of her recipes and they always came out delish! I had a chance to meet her and her family a few years ago at an autograph session at her restaurant in Savannah. This was the book she signed. I enjoyed this book and her stories of growing up with agoraphobia, being penniless and rising her way up to stardom and fame. She seems to be a very down to earth person and the book was very cute just like her. I'm excited for the recipes at the end of each chapter and look forward to making them in my home.

It's pure Paula Deen. If you like her television shows, you'll like this book. Written with Brandon Branch, an interior stylist, the book is beautifully photographed and includes pictures from Paula's homes and those of her friends. Each section includes Branch's tips--nothing earthshattering but good solid tips that help develop the unique southern style.

Made an amazing drunken sirloin roast from here. Everything I've made has been good... though I've added more salt than recommended... then again I'm an over-salter.

Paula Deen shows herself to be the brash, lovable, right-there Southern woman she seems to be on television. Her story is inspiration in what I call the "strong woman" genre, where a woman who doesn't realize her strength and potential is forced by circumstances to fold or bring her greatness forward. I like Paula even more after reading this book.

I actually wanted to read this book because someone told me Paula Deen suffered from severe anxiety and agoraphobia and wrote all about it. I'm not agoraphobic but I get panic attacks and I was curious. She only brought it up briefly a couple times and then seemingly figured out her reasons why and cured herself.

I liked this book a little because I like the cook, not the book, and it really needed to be cut in half. She gave out odd advice on opening a restaurant. That said, she told some "secrets" about who she really is. She's a real person, and she's lived a real life. I saw some reviewers who really trashed on her for what she's done. Dude. Like you haven't ever made a mistake? Come on. She was brave for being so real in this book. Other than that the only good thing were the recipes.

Awwww. This took me right back home to my grandma's kitchen. A lot of the recipes I would cook just for that reason.

Autobiography is not my favorite genre, but having watched Paula Deen's show a few times, the book caught my eye when I saw it on the new book shelf at the library. Paula Deen is known for Southern-style "comfort food" and it appears she has needed quite a bit of comfort in her somewhat turbulent life. Fans of Ms. Deen will enjoy the book and be happy for the much better life she has made for herself with the help of her sons.

The real sweetness found in "The Lady & Sons Just Desserts" lies not only in the delightful recipes, but also in the the family stories and the genuine love of cooking that prevails throughout the pages. The introduction written by Paula Deen is a fascinating mini-autobiography that follows Paula's early years through her young first marriage, the start of her restaurant business, her introduction to TV Land, and how she met Michael Groover, who would later become her second husband. Paula Deen's personal struggles and her desire to be a success and provide for her family will resonate with many women. The recipes range from simple sweet-tooth satisfaction to satiation for serious sugar addicts. Many of the recipes are accompanied by charming anecdotes. Do these titles sound tempting: "Brown Sugar Pound Cake"; "White Chocolate Macadamia Nut Pie"; "Paula's Loaded Oatmeal Cookies"; "Eggnog Pudding"; "Mama's Divinity"; and "Blueberry Cream Cheese Tarts"? "The Lady & Sons Just Desserts" is just peachy--Georgia peachy, that is!

One of the earliest books from the proprietor of a famous Georgia restaurant, The Lady and Sons in Savannah (although web reviews indicate it has gone somewhat downhill). This is a great resource for southern US cooking (see also Mildred Council for more southern cooking). Paul Deen has, in addition to the restaurant, a magazine, TV shows, etc. - see www.pauladeen.com.

Paula Deen, (proprietor of the Lady and Sons restaurant in Savannah, Georgia) with her blue collar southern, somewhat overpackaged commercialism is not everyone's cup of tea. But this is a good little book of Christmas ideas, and her clear zest for entertaining shines through. If the odd packaged or processed product offends you then steer clear but most recipes are 'from scratch'. Paul Deen has, in addition to the restaurant, a magazine, TV shows, etc. - see www.pauladeen.com.

If you are a Paula Deen fan, and you have seen her various family members featured on her TV shows, you will absolutely love this book! There is a wide range of fabulous recipes from the whole Deen gang. The photography is beautiful, and the little tidibts about the family are very enjoyable.

This is a great cookbook and my favorite of the few that I own by Paula Deen. Though there are a few recipes in it that don't sound too good to me because I am a picky eater, there are a lot that remind me of the good Southern cooking t hat my family does. I will definitely be keeping this one.

I bought this book because I loved Paula Deen's other cookbooks. I was a bit disappointed with this one, though. The recipes are just not made from things that I enjoy as much as those in her other cookbooks. It's still a keeper due to a few good recipes.

School-age children, with calendars full of sleepovers, bake sales, and parties, have lots of reasons to cook. Paula Deen has anticipated those teachable moments in a cookbook organized into chapters like "Christmas Cooking Party," "Pool Party," and "What's New for Lunch." Tips for hosting successful events, along with lessons both on cooking and manners, are included in every chapter. Ingredient lists appear in an illustrated format.

I have to admit, i hadn't high hopes for this one. So many shotgun celebrities, get a show, fame, their own magazine and then they write a book.***snore*** but this book I really liked. It was funny, very honest, and charming.
