I read this as part of the Covert Affairs box set. The first four parts are included and I've read the first three. Jordan is a nice enough character and the action happens very quickly - but I just didn't really connect with her enough to bother reading the rest. It was just a bit too shallow with detail - which is understandable it's not a full length novel and doesn't purport to be - but it just didn't grab me). The first three parts make up one major story arc and I was satisfied with ending my involvement with the series there.

I hadn't realized how short this book was. Well, it's more just the first two chapters of a novel, and not a stand alone book.

That being said, it's a promising start and I will defiately read on.

The second part, not a stand-alone, just the next few chapters after part 1.

Dramatic introduction of the body. Jordan Fox is definately having a bad first day at the job... She's also dangerously close to becoming too whiny. In the last chapter, she seems to be getting a grip on herself again, let's hope it stays that way.

Also, there's one too many coincidences happening to not let this story feeling too fabricated. Not in how the victims are connected, but Jordan's connection to the victims. I'll buy her best friend being Sal's girlfriend. Also, I'll buy Garfield being her ex-boyfriends former soccer trainer. But not both, and definatly not since both cases are so closely linked. It's a bit too much deus-ex-machina.

This part of the story fell a bit flat for me. The first two parts consisted of a promising build-up, and in part three it falls into the 'cozy mysteries - trap': police actions are bafflingly lacking, and the protagonist is able (without any training, knowledge or preparation) to put herself in a life-threatening position and entrap a professional killer...
At least Jordan didn't turn into a whiny character.
This part wraps up the first story.
