This is an interesting book. It is a memoir written by a man who grew up in South Africa right as apartheid was being dismantled. His mother was intent on him being educated and she got him into the best white school she could. Then he went to Advertising School but dropped out & made his way in his own way. He has been hugely successful. There are different sides to the book -- corporate advertising world, what used to be the townships, etc. The author seems somewhat bemused by his success. I read this on the recommendation of Trevor Noah. It was obviously written for a South African audience. There were lots of words and phrases I didn't recognize. It didn't distract too much from the story. An interesting look at South Africa. It didn't dwell much on the political situation. More one man's life in another country.
