Frederick William Dodds

My second-hand copy had been a prize in 1924 from a Primitive Methodist Sunday School. This is a book for adolescent boys written in the colonial missionary tradition. It sets out, with 'tales founded closely on fact', to illustrate 'native psychology', and how Africans can be converted to Christianity by brave and dedicated missionaries. This is a kind of primitive anthropology with a deeply distasteful foundation and aim.
