A student really enjoyed this and asked me to read a few of the stories so that we could discuss it. The student thought it was "scary" but it was just a series of dry summaries of famous ghost stories. An okay free-read for a kid who likes ghost stories but doesn't love reading fiction enough (or lacks the skills) to get engrossed in one.

The author tells us that these ghost stories are supposed to be true, but that we should judge for ourselves, so I've tagged this both fiction and nonfiction. Each story is introduced and explained, then told in a third person omniscient narrative. The stories are interesting, though a few are more paranormal than ghost stories.
