This is a business book revolving around experience as a businessperson specialising in niche markets. The book addresses the downsides of starting a niche business but predominantly looks at recognising opportunities, gaining expertise, taking advantage of premium prices, converting prospects to clients, gaining better relationships in the chosen industry, getting and giving more referrals, and becoming more efficient.

The concept of this book is to encourage people to attack the niche market instead of crowded markets as well as understand the importance of becoming an expert in the area by learning from other experts. After all, expertise in the niche market will benefit the businessperson in the long run, as well as taking into consideration that education is ongoing and becoming more efficient in the area of choice already puts the businessperson at an advantage. The book provides more advantages than disadvantages but makes it clear that while one of the advantages is no competition, that advantage might not last.

It is made clear that niching is not for everyone but the book demonstrates that it is worth considering, providing a few reasons why it might not be an easy task and plenty of reasons why having knowledge of a niche area will be beneficial. Such reasons include being an expert in the area, having less competition (initially), and making the most of charging premium prices. Structurally, the book is extremely pleasant to read and provides clear subheadings with thought-provoking questions to take into consideration when making the decision to find a niche market.

It is also made clear that is not a step-by-step guide. So, the book is vague and open as it is supposed to kick-start ideas for readers interested in moving away from mass markets or who are just getting started. However, the book misses the opportunity to provide some testimonials and concrete examples of niche businesses.

As an entrepreneur being a Jack of all trades is not what I want to do in my business, I want to focus and do something really well. When I saw this book I knew I had to read it. In only 8 chapters I learned a that working niche is definitely for me. I’m regret that I’ve waisted a lot of time, money, energy on spreading out instead of narrowing my focus and flourishing.
The author explains how having less clients/smaller market may bring larger profits. Being an expert, standing out will bring more profits. It’s not for everyone, he also give the negatives. He explains how he found his niche, working SEO, marketing and other issues.
Everything is explained in fairly clear language, with some fun thrown in. It’s not a guide/workbook with detailed steps but a beginning to thinking of what might be a good niche or not for our business. I would recommend it to entrepreneurs/small businesses as a must read.

This book had some interesting points, but overall found it rather repetitive.
