The further I read into this book, the more I liked it. This is the story of 16 year old Australian guy Caleb who's father has just passed away. Caleb is an amateur musician who writes songs in his bedroom and dedicates one to his three year crush Ella. He's also a bit shy and only has one other friend, a gay girl called Miralee. When his checky younger brother uploads Nathan's song to Facebook, his sister hears it and gives it to her friend who works on the radio. The radio plays the song...the rest is history...suddenly everyone at school knows about his feelings for Ella and he's been uploaded to Spotify!

Along comes Jai, a record executive who convinces Caleb ( under the stage name BVTTON to sign a record contract, go to wild parties, appear on the radio and play his first gig. It all gets too much for Caleb as he is still dealing with the absence of his straight talking father.

A great book for older teens due to the swearing, sex and drug abuse Caleb encounters in the rock industry. The author is a former DJ/Record industry person himself and this means that his scenes of the promo parties, the smutty radio hosts and the general confusion that surrounds being a new guy in the music industry are spot on. Sometimes this book is laugh aloud funny as Caleb is so naive. Highly Recommended.… (meer)
