William James Earle

I found Earle's survey of philosophical topics incredibly useful for brushing up when I was preparing my Introduction to Philosophy course for this semester. I had other historically oriented books that went philosopher by philosopher, which were crucial because that is the way the survey course that I teach is organized. But Earle provides a very clear account of all the myriad concepts and core arguments in philosophy, organized by branches of the discipline (metaphysics, epistemology, ethics, aesthetics, and so on).
