Read this book as the first in the "Uncovering You" Omnibus, but I didn't read the books after it. I think I either lost interest or just forgot about it.
It's pretty stereotypical for the BDSM/Billionaire/Capture fantasy romance of the time.

Full Transparency: I bought the first three books in this series with a misguided confidence that I'd love them, and then I was severely frustrated by the first book. I wasn't even sure I'd come back to the second one, but eventually I did...and remembered all of my frustrations.

I want to first say that, in my opinion, the 'books' in this series are not complete books. They are, by my best educated guess, what should have been a single or perhaps a couple of books, which the author split into multiple (five, I believe) volumes and labeled a series of books. To my mind, she can only have done this in order to make a larger profit by selling five short books instead of one or two longer ones. I also want to point out that the author clearly knows this. Why do I say this? She proclaims ahead of Book 2's beginning the following: "Each volume is a fully-contained [sic] book with a climax and a conclusion."

All due respect, but how many books do you know that have felt the need to claim, in the beginning, that they are actually books? I actually can't think of any at all, outside of this series.

Length and definition aside, this book leaves a lot to be desired. Minor plot/character holes are an issue, but lack of development is an even more serious issue. If the story had been fully developed, with real care given to psychology, description, and the progression of plot and emotion, then perhaps this could have been a full book. As is, it's so bare bones that what the reader gets sometimes feels more like an outline than a fully developed novel, and while the characters are hitting the high points of a dark romance, those high points are the only thing given time on the page. When you add in repetition, there's not much to admire here beyond the bare-bones outline of what might have had the potential to be a powerful dark romance if given real attention and development.

As it was, not so much.

I may or may or may not read the third volume since it's already on my shelf. I certainly won't be purchasing more of the series, or anything else written by the author, and I wouldn't recommend others do so.

Well, it was short but has intrigued me enough to continue reading the series. I will attempt a proper review once I've read what has been released so far.

I'm Addicted

I adore character series. To me there is no better read than a series revolving around a character. I've never had a character/storyline pull me in so quickly as Lilly. There is a part of me that wanted to put it down and walk away. How could I keep reading about this poor girl. But then I realized I could not stop!

Can't Put It Down

I've never read a series that drew me into a main character like this. I feel Lilly's fear and although at times I want to put the book down and walk a way I can't!

It's hard to know how to feel about this book because, in and of itself, it's not a complete book. It's set up as one, but realistically, it's only the beginning of one. And outside of the lack of editing that affects so many self-published works (though not this one), maybe this is one of the big problems--authors have incentive to publish a lot of short pieces rather than single long pieces in some ways... and that's fine. But apparently, in this case, it led to an author writing one long piece, and splitting it into three books.

By itself, this 'first book in the series' is more of a tease than a story in and of itself. If you're buying it for Kindle, you can buy all three for 99 cents each, but the fact that it's published alone does, on some level, suggest there's a particular story to be had here, just as there'd be if you bought the first book in a series in a bookstore. But, as a book, this doesn't warrant the label.

If I'd just finished reading the first part of a book, I might not be too unsatisfied right now--it's a decent beginning, though it's got some issues (not least of them the sections where she's remembering back to being 12, in memories that vary between making her sound like a 6-year-old and an 18-year-old). But, as someone who just read what she considered to be a book in and of itself, and the beginning of a series... well, yeah, I don't think I got what I paid for, and the lack of substance/completion here overshadows what was a decent beginning to a book.

So, will I continue reading? Yes, I will, because I bought the first three in the series together, knowing they were something of a trilogy even if I didn't realize how much they were together only essentially one book. But, will I read more by this author? No, I probably won't. I'm not going to pay full book price for what ends up being only a third of a book, and it seems that that's what this author's intention is That means that, on some level, she's putting money above either stories or readers, and combined with the fact that there's nothing really Special about this particular book/story so far, that means I feel a bit gipped, and frustrated that marketing processes led an author to make this particular choice and concession.

Here's hoping that other authors don't, as I certainly haven't seen anything to this extent before.½

Paige meets Andrew, hero 1 on first day of college. 1/3rds into the book (about 5 meets later) she’s infatuated enough to promise to wait for him for a full semester because they can’t be together until then.

Also…and not in this particular order:
She meets Katy, her new roommate/bff, and Spencer, hero 2, when she walks in on them going at it full steam.
She finds a job as a swimming instructor although she has no experience.
Is signed up for the swim team.
She gets it on with Spencer who, at 26 is still in college as an upperclassman and undergrad, (for 6 years now) speeds reads and has a photographic memory, is the campus ho.
Stops going to swim practice.
She endures a brief girl on girl tease initiated, in jest, by her bff in an effort to get her to lighten up.
Walks in on Spencer been given a bj by some random hookup at a party where Spencer and Paige had made prior arrangements to meet up at.
Has some more intimate moments with Andrew.
Has both heroes fight over her
Nearly slices herself to death with a mirror and lands up in hospital on the SAME night/day she finds her bff overdosed and sees HER to hospital too.
Has panic attacks.
Has visions.
Has flashbacks.
Has dizzy, nausea spells.
Discovers her bff has been having a secret fling hero 1 and she catches them red-handed.
Discovers that the heroes are step brothers who hate each other.
More to follow…..

I have to say on my first glimpse that this cover is really hot, so kudos to the person who made that. I'm sure the cover alone and the title really drew in some interests. I am so happy my favorite type of book has really taken off, I love a really great Stockholm syndrome book. This is only the first part in the series and I have to say it was really well written. Lilly is a completely likable character, and obviously the wrong person discovered a liking for her. You see it on the news every now and then but really what type of man would just take a girl. So we flashback to Lilly's crappy childhood and learn that she is a survivor. I think that makes her captivity a little easier to take, because if we know her, she's going to do what she needs to survive. She was going to school at Yale and so we also knows she is smart. So I love where this is going and I'm excited for the next installment. Overall entertainment value is five stars. Loved it.
