Finally own it in 4K (thank you Grindhouse and birthday month splurge). Well worth it—many shots could be framed as art.

First time I saw this, I had a nightmare about the apple.

Just watched it, and yet will most likely watch it again tomorrow with Robert Eggers’ commentary track. Cannot believe this was his and Anya Taylor-Joy’s first movie.

A puritan family is harassed by a witch.

Intense, and much more serious than I expected. It's creepy in an unsettling way, not a fun way. The basic conceit, of the witches of Puritans' nightmares being real, is wasted on a Crucible-style-witch-hunt story. You could cut out all the supernatural stuff and still have a complete (albeit far less interesting) movie.
