'Hampshire industrial archaeology: a guide', edited by Monica Ellis, published in 1975 by the Southampton University Industrial Archaeology Group. I nearly threw it out before I discovered what a treasure trove it contained of places I had explored as a child. My landscape took me through and past the places below - i rarely stopped to look or understand their history and importance: Wickham, Horndean, Eastleigh, Bedhampton, Havant, Fareham, Portsmouth and its districts: Eastney, Cosham, North End, the Dockyard, the Camber, the stations,
- Chesapeake Mill, Wickham, 1820, woodwork from the Chesapeake in 1813;
- Gale's Horndean, Brewery; c. 100 years old in 1973;
- Eastleigh Railway Works; opened in 1888 (carriages and wagons); locomotives (1909);
- Havant (opened 1860) and Bedhampton (1889) pumping stations;
- Eastney pumping station (1887);
- Gladys Road bus depot, North End (rebuilt for tramways in 1900);
- Rugby Road tram track;
- Horndean tram service, remains; (electric tram ran from 1903 to 1935);
- Cosham Station (cottage type station of 1847);
- Portsmouth and Southsea Station (completed in 1866);
- Portsmouth Harbour Station (opened 1876);
- Langstone Railway swing bridge (1867);
- Portsmouth Dockyard level crossing;
- Portsmouth municipal airport (built in 1932 and closed in 1973);
- Portsmouth dockyard (long history dock by dock - 1698 - 1803 and later)
- Fareham Quay;
- Southsea Pier (built in 1908-13);
- Camber Dock, Old Portsmouth (from 18th century onwards);
- Theatre Royal, Portsmouth (built in 1884);
- Portsmouth Classic cinema, Kingston Cross.
