'Ghost of a Shadow' is an enchanting Fantasy adventure, which follows the life of awkward teen Sadie Myers. The book opens to immediate action, hooking the reader and prompting us to ask various questions about Sadie's past. While Sadie strives to work out what the strange happenings around her could be, Finn Montgomery (a twisted soul if ever there was one) takes dark measures to ensure his freedom and seek out Sadie.

I honestly could not put this novel down. There was a depth to the alternative world of Mystashan that filled me with a childlike curiosity. I could feel the world forming around me as I read and I didn't want the story to end. Not a sentence is wasted. Everything adds more conflict and drama to the story, with a cleverly weaved in sub plot that had me wondering what the connection could be between Finn and young Sadie.

The emotions of the characters ran deep, becoming a river of grief which filled my veins. Even the characters that are projected as evil are shown to have weaknesses and redeeming features, giving them a well rounded feel. On many occasions, I actually pitied Finn's character and wished that I could alter the course of the novel for his sake.

This book is a fictional masterpiece, beyond anything I had yet read. The magical world of Mystashan pulled me in and I never wanted to leave. I recommend this book to all, but especially to lovers of fantasy. You'll likely find yourself glued to the pages, just as I have found myself.
