Fasciana presents two separate concerns with mercury, allergy and toxicity, so even if you do believe current American Dental Association that mercury is perfectly safe you may still have problems with it because of allergy.
I, however, do believe mercury is toxic. My main reason for reading this was to see what my options were now. I had not considered all the different substances used in preparing teeth for fillings, and can see why one might not want to replace fillings that still have integrity. Fasciano, by the end, seems to feel that gold fillings are the best, yet earlier in the book there was a brief mention that some gold fillings have mercury in them. I'll be speaking with my dentist to see what research he has done on the substances he uses.
There was mention of supplements which could be taken to help cleanse the body, once mercury fillings are removed, but no details. There was mention that science doesn't back Huggins' (an early anti-mercury dentist) claim that electrogalvanic testing is needed to determine in which order fillings are replaced, but (unlike most other statements) there is no reference cited.
Each chapter begins with a summary of what he is going to say, then the fully developed content, ending with an outline of what he said. This allows you to skim or skip portions if you don't need the full details.
