Nicole Fazio

Plot: Told entirely through illustrations, this book tells the story of the long transformation between a glass bottle and piece of sea glass. Brilliantly told, the story starts in sepia tones and colour is gradually introduced throughout to illustrate the passage of time.

My reaction: I was so excited to find this book! My prairie students are fascinated by sea glass since most of them have never seen an ocean, but I have a hard time explaining how the little gem they are holding was created. I can’t wait to show this to them!!! Fazio does an amazing job telling her wordless story. Her use of colour is particularly genius!
