Fifth Generation Systems

In the early 1990s, Fastback Plus was the best selling backup and restore software for PCs and compatibles running DOS. Hard drive backups could be made to a stack of floppies or to a QIC tape drive. Unattended scheduled backups could be made to the QIC tape device.

The speed of backing up files was terrific. Contrariwise, the reliability of restoring files from backup was terrible.

As of November 2008 when this review is being written, Fifth Generation Systems appear to have gone missing from the backup and restore business. Fastback Plus is no longer being sold or supported.… (meer)
