This collection of essays regarding the myth of the Biblical David and it's influence throughout the Western literary canon. The David myth is complex as David is complex--he is both a model of goodness and evil. He is not these things alternately, but at the same time. It would be a mystery deeper than the supposed duality of Jesus, except that we understand David, because he is completely human, and he is made in our own image, writ large.
