"He could not fall in love, that was the gossip of the Ghetto." Fredy Hirsch was a German-born Jew who fled to the Czech Republic in 1935. He was a gay man who did not hide his sexual identity. With the deportation of the Jews to Ghetto Terezin, Fredy was appointed head of the youth department and responsible for 4,000 youth. Upon arriving in Auschwitz, Fredy persuaded the Germans to set up a daycare center for 600 children where he granted them final moments of happiness. In that terrible death camp, Fredy was living openly with his lover. Fredy planned a revolt that never came to pass. He died mysteriously shortly thereafter. This film follows his story through interviews, archival materials and animation. (fonte: Rubi Gat)… (meer)
