I like how this book focuses on a prehistoric animal that is not commonly talked about. It even starts by talking about dinosaurs and then going into the fact that they were not the only prehistoric animal. What a great way to expand kids’ thinking when it comes to something they are familiar with. There are other books in this series about other prehistoric animals too; it would be great for a book report project. This book is well organized with a table of contents, glossary, index, and even a link to a website for more information. Those are helpful text features that kids can work with that will give them skills for reading non-fiction throughout their lives.
