Between 1941 and 1945, six million European Jews were murdered in the Holocaust.

This genocide was undertaken through mass shootings and industrialised killing in gas vans, gas chambers and work camps. 1.1 million executions were undertaken at the Auschwitz Birkenau concentration camp.

In July, 2014, artist Rebecca Odessa began working on a painting that would visualise the calculated precision of this factory of genocide and record the number of lives lost.

The project would take her five years and thousands of hours to complete. The final work is titled: The Grey Zone. (fonte: Palette Grey)
