Kitty Hanson

Kitty Hanson's 1964 study of a female gang in East Harlem follows one of the first female street workers into the streets. It describes several different girls' lives and how they ended up in the gang. One winds up a junkie. One is Pregnant. It's pretty run of the mill gang stuff. Muggings and beating girls from other gangs. Promiscuity, drugs. Its originality lies in the fact that it is one of the few books to study a female gang.
