Overall, I felt this was an ok book and serves its purpose to introduce young children into the world of nursery rhymes. The first element that I enjoyed were the choice of the publisher. They chose a wide range of nursery rhymes and included some of the classics, but covered a wide range of topics. However, I wish they would have included some nursery rhymes with more diversity. The second element that I enjoyed was the design of the book. It was organized very well and by following the table of contents, a reader could find what nursery rhyme they were looking for. The third element, illustrations was one that I didn’t enjoy very much. I felt they were very bland and doesn’t adequately portray the feeling children are supposed to feel while reading a nursery rhyme. For instance, in the nursery rhyme Humpty Dumpty the colors are very light and don’t pop out on the page as I feel they should. Also, all of the pages behind the illustrations are white and just convey a very dull feeling. In the end, I felt the main message of this book was to introduce children into the world of nursery rhymes and the morals that go along with their stories.… (meer)
