This is the 5th book in the series, but it gives a quick recap of the premise in the story. Spork the alien crash landed at an elementary school and joined the third grade. When his friend Trixie notices he seems homesick she tries to find a way to help him. The story revolves around Spork and Trixie both learning about kindness. Spork learns that it is not literally about shoes, and Trixie learns that it isn't a competition to get credit for being nice. After the story there is a quiz about kindness, a logic puzzle, and a riddle.

Great book for young kids getting into basketball. My son(9) and I read this together and he enjoyed it that at times he read ahead of me but insisted we go back to where we left off together every time.

This book was a good read. I enjoyed reading how Tucker wanted to make things better for his family. When I was growing up I had dreams just like him. I would recommend this book for anyone who relates to Tucker's situations. He had patience caring for his special needs brother while his mom was away at work. I really liked how he focused on helping his mom and brother rather than just thinking about himself.

The adventures of Beanboy was simply amazing. There were so many core principles that used in the story that could also transfer into the real world. From Tucker being so patient with his little brother, to the backstory on Sam, even the struggles of being a single parent, everything was simply incredible. It was a beautiful story that I think students in middle school could relate to. I think that this story could spark some very interesting and meaningful conversations.

This is an excellent book for children to read. The main character, Tucker, is a selfless boy who wants to help all of those around him, whether or not they are kind to him in return. Tucker also has an opportunity to lie to help out his mother, but chooses to do the right thing and tells the truth. This book teaches kindness, selflessness, and truthfulness.

The adventures of bean boy is a story a bout a boy in middle school who loves comic books. In the book he states “I was pretty much known as the kid with the comic books, and on the sliding scale of middle school coolness, comic book obsession hovered somewhere between geography club and math team." Tucker’s family was going through some problems and he felt as if his family was unraveling. His mom went to school during the day and worked at night so him and his little brother beech barely saw her, and he had to be at his family apartment everyday to take care of his little brother, and his father lived in Boston. Tucker decides to enter a contest for best hero sidekick so his mom could stop working. His character is bean boy, and he came up with the idea because his last name is Maclean and everyone called his bean boy. There is only one person in school who really hates tucker, and her name is sam. She always bullies him and as he says “Speared me with a Zawicki Glare of Death,” and just went around bullying others for no reason. When tucker has to stay after school for art club to work on his comic sam ends up being the babysitter of his little brother. Tucker ends up winning the contest and his mom wins another contest as well. The author of this book Lisa Harkrader lives on a farm in Kansas, has had many jobs, and loves writing and illustrating. I would recommend this book to parents with sons who are into comics.

The Adventures of Bean Boy is a novel about a young boy and his love for comics. Tucker MacBean enters a contest in hopes of winning a scholarship so his mom could stop working so much and just be able to hang out with him and his brother Beecher more often. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It had good illustrations and content. I would recommend this book for fifth grade through eight grade. It is a good transition book from picture books to chapter books. I would highly recommend this book, because I am 19 and still enjoyed this book and would more than likely read it again.

The Adventures of Beanboy was written by Lisa Harkrader and is a interesting tale of a boy who loves comics. Tucker MacBean has been nicknamed bean for almost his whole life, and that is the perfect inspiration for a comic book character that he is creating. Tucker finds a purpose for his comic book study when the books he's been reading for years create a contest for the best comic book character that offers a free scholarship! This is just what his family needs because his mom is a single-mom, a full-time student, and a full-time employee. Did i mention he has a special needs brother? Tucker has a lot going on, but the fact that he may be able to help his family gives him motivation to push forward! This is a great story about hard work and a struggling family.

Introduction: The Adventures of Beanboy, written Lisa Harkrader is about a boy, Tucker, who is dealing with school and his family splitting apart. He loves comics and he plans to create a comic, H2O so he can bring his family back together.

Characters:: Tucker Mcbean is the main character who wants to win the comic contest. Noah is Tucker's best friend who is always supportive and by his side. Beecher Mcbean is Tucker's little brother and Sam Zawicki is Tucker's bully who eventually gains a soft spot and becomes friends with a few people.

Theme/plot: The theme of this book, to me, is always stand for what is believed, just as Tucker believed he could win the comic contest and he did. He also did not change once he got what he wanted. He even caused is bully Sam to become friendly. The Adventures of Beanboy has many conflicts within the book; the main conflict is when how Tucker is going to get his family back together and also help his mom as a single parent. Everything eventually comes together at the end of the book.

Author: Lisa Harkrader has written many books including continuations of Mcbean books. This book in particular was to her agent Chris Chudney who saw potential in someone just like Sam Zawicki.

Summary: Thirteen-year-old Tucker MacBean doesn't have it very easy. He doesn't rank very high on the social ladder at school, does his best to avoid Sam Zawicki, the class bully, misses his single-parent mom and wishes she didn't have to work so hard. She works full time during the day and attends night classes at a local college. She mostly communicates with Tucker and his brother, Beecher, through an elaborate Post-It note system.

Quotes: “I was way too old to have my mom giving me love and kisses on a sticky note, but I was glad she put them on there.” This quote goes with the theme that Tucker was grateful for his mom but he wanted better for himself and his family. He loved them dearly and wanted to do something to prove that he was trying just as hard as his mother was.

The Adventures of Beanboy was written by Lisa Harkrader. She has written many books including a sequel, Cool Beans: Further Adventures of Beanboy.
Tucker MacBean is a seventh grader. He loves comic books. He saves his money each month and always has the exact change ready when his favorite comic book comes out. H2O man is his favorite super hero. Tucker has a best friend, Noah Spooner who is very responsible when it comes to homework and band practice. He keeps his watch synchronized with his schedule, so he is never late. Tucker has a little brother, Beecher, who he usually has to babysit after school. Tucker’s mom is a single, working mom who is trying to pay her way through college. Tucker and Mom’s paths rarely cross because she works odd hours and attends school at night. They leave each other sticky notes to communicate. I really liked that some were included in the book. Tucker rarely complains that he has to watch Beecher. He usually takes care of him without being told because he knows it’s what is expected of him and ultimately what he has to do. At times, he is jealous of other children who don’t have the burden of a younger sibling, but he always feels guilty for feeling this way. Tucker is a great big brother and it shows throughout the book. As Tucker puts it, "Something happened when Beecher was born. He didn't get enough oxygen in his brain right at first. So he doesn't do everything the way everyone else does." This is one of the only places in the book that we see that Beech has a disability. Tucker does not see his brother any differently than anyone else, and he makes sure that no one picks on him. He is gentle and loving. Tucker worries about his mom and wants to spend more time with her. When he learns of a comic book contest offering a full scholarship as the grand prize, he quickly enters so he can pay for his mom’s schooling. The contest rules state: "H2O's sidekick must possess the true heart of a hero. Reach deep within yourself, find that heroic heart, and create a sidekick who can rank among the greatest sidekicks in comic book history." Tucker is a great kid, just trying to find out where he fits in and trying to navigate the rough waters of middle school, but can he do it? You will have to read the book to find out!

The Adventures of Beanboy, written by Lisa Harkrader, tells the story of a yound boy named Tucker MacBean who turns his everyday adventures into his very own comics. The author, is also known for her latest release titled, Nocturne. The book however is not a graphic novel but the author does have a few comic graphics throughout the book. Young children enjoy reading chapter books that have some type of illustration throughout the book. Children are able to connect illustrations with the text. Each character in the story all had unique characteristics and personalities.

This book is apart of a series about a middle school boy who enters a comic book contest. Tucker MacBean, the main character, is thirteen years old and has taken responsibilities into his own hands. He lives in an apartment with his mother and brother, Beecher. Beech is nine years old and has speech problems because of complications when he was born. Beech takes care of his younger brother and balances school and his creative ideas all at once. The theme seemed to be humorous and light hearted at the beginning, but it took a turn at the end to be about doing the right thing. Tucker struggles throughout the novel, and in the end makes mature decisions to help others, even if he has to sacrifice. The author is Lisa Harkrader who dreamed of becoming an author for as long as she could remember, she enjoys focusing on the message of her books the most. I would recommend this book to middle school aged children, even if they are not interested in comics.
