I genuinely enjoyed this book!

It's a refreshing addition to my historical romance reading list and a great introduction to Lorraine Heath's writing.

All the characters were well-developed, and the subtle hints throughout the story kept me engaged without giving away too much too soon.

Overall, it was a thoroughly enjoyable read!

DNF for now. I wanted to listen to this as an audiobook during my commute, but it is too hard for me to understand the narrators while driving. I'll try and locate a paper copy to read sometime in the future.

Not especially memorable nor did it pull me in. I just did not fall for the romance?

I know you're supposed to have read all the other books first but I heard this was really sad and it was free so, well. I read it and it was so sad.

Cecilia Grant's A Lady Awakened ruined me for all other "seed needed for pregnancy - no feelings allowed!" books, but ymmv!

sidenote: this book and Grant's book were both released in 2011; Grant's in January and Heath's in June.

I think this was such a fun read. I wish i was more focsued and read this in quicker fashion and that did hinder my enjoyment a tad. I overall liked the premise of this book. I loved long lost characters returing to cailm their right. I did enjoy the romance,I don't think this couple is my new favorite . I am super excited to keep readign this series soon!!

This was a very fun read and def my favorite in the series. I also liked that in this book we got some random POV that we saw in the previous books and I also loved the oraphange that was a big part of this book. This book also had a romance pairing that i did not exect and it was a really quick listen and quite steamy as well!! I also loved seeing all the other characters again!!

I really loved this one i think this book was my second favorite in this series. I LOVED getting the male character in this book finally. I also liked how the characters were both dealing with secrets that impacted the characters. It has one of my favoirte story elements and i have never read it in regency read. I also loved how we got to see all the previous book characters. I loved how complex both characters are and how this book did have a mystery element at the heart of it. def a new favorite!!!

I think as i got to the tale end of this book i was so invested in this read. I have soft spot for orphans and this book checked so many of my boxes. This book also had mystery element plot for both characters that kept my gussing and the forced proxmity that made this book so engaginig. I am really excited for book 2 in this series and just loved this book so much!

This hero grew on me as the book progressed. I will admit jack is damanged and becasue of that I struggled to like him in the first book in this series. But i adored the female characer as both a widow and mother. I also really loved seeing the side characters again. I also loved the side mysery plot again, i think i like the first book mystery a tad more. But i am really excited to keep readin this series!

I really did enjoy this book. It was unque book in the set when your twin brother dies and his wife is pregant, to make sure she does not loss the baby, you have to pretend to be yours brother. I really loved this book. I loved the main characters and loved the whole plot, it was hard to predict and and i really am exicted to read more books in this series in the future

For all the fact it was meant as a teenage romance novel, the book very easily could have been a regular historical romance (if you changed the ages of the hero and heroine that is). Its not racy, but in almost every other respect the romance was handled in a decidedly mature way, as was the plot.

Samantha, or Sam as she's known for the better part of the book, is just like any other teen girl. True her formative years were spent taking care of her family during the Civil War, with her father dead and older brother off to war, she was the eldest and shouldered that responsibility without complaining. However once free of that burden she realizes quickly that she has no practical knowledge about how to attract a man. Or what her feelings mean. Her attraction to Matt started almost immediately, but she was slow to love him. Admired him certainly, but she wasn't a fool.

Matt of course had the burden of not even knowing his love interest was his love interest! The poor guy spends half the book worried out of his mind because his new guy pal 'Sam' is so delicate and puny he couldn't possibly be sixteen! It was nice though to see him treat her as a genuine person without worrying over male/female dynamic. That changes when he learns the truth, but until then equal footing was had.

Most of the secondary characters are pretty broadly written. The weary mother trying her best to feed her kids and keep it together, the older brother who loses a limb in the war and comes back changed, two younger siblings who are really only mentioned, best gal pal who is dewey-eyed over the boys and the cowhands who had hearts of gold. That part I thought was a little bit too sweet, with only cursory mentions of 'dark troubled pasts', but no indication of such.

Definitely an enjoyable book that certainly stirs interest in my book-loving heart to seek out some of Heath's regular romance titles.

Finally Marcus’s story! Return of the Duke is the third book in a series that I have indeed enjoyed very much. While not my favorite in the series, it still was a highly satisfying read.
Marcus finally gets the chance to solve his family’s mysterious fall from grace but the person who holds the key is his dad’s mistress, Esme. Esme a woman he instantly feels a powerful tug towards against his will!
I enjoyed this book. It’s always fun watching 2 strong personalities find themselves, and that’s exactly what we had here. Esme was a really strong character that was a pleasant change from a lot of his-roms.
The book also has a mystery-intrigue plot however I feel that was marred by how obvious the villain was.

Really good.

I really enjoyed this. Sexy and emotionally affecting.
