Vision Quest door A.F. Henley
A good paranormal story surrounded by a whole lot of hot sex. I would not call this a horror story. Blaze has been cursed to follow his visions and do what the person in his vision needs. Arik needs to forgive his father and learn how to use his power. I liked the way that both men were slowly exposed to the reader. There really weren't any secondary characters as the story was all about Arik and Blaze. The ending was strong yet came on rather abruptly. I would read more by this author.
The first half was really good, the second half was good. The small parts that are not from Randys point of view are nice, but left too many clues for me. I liked Vaughn as evil neighbor and Lyle as bad boy. Too bad Lyle didn't have more success and evil neighbor got nice so soon.
If you like your shifter stories to be full of instalove, 'mine', and mates then this book isn't for you.
What it is is a beautifully written and visual book about the stark beauty and yet barrenness of winter in a small, self imposed loneliness, and doing the wrong thing for the right reasons. It also provides an interesting look at pack dynamics and an outsider's view of a small community.
Told completely from Randy's POV (the outsider), you can really feel his confusion and frustration, even though you as the reader have an advantage by being aware of the wolf aspect of the story.
