This is my first f/f romance with a fake marriage trope and I was excited to read it. And though the story took some unexpected turns, it was a pleasant and sweet experience.

Dora is a very confusing protagonist and I’m not exactly sure what I feel about her. I could totally feel her anxiety about the deportation and about not wanting to go back home because she has already come to love Toronto like her own. However, she seemed very resigned to her fate and didn’t seem very proactive in trying to change her visa situation. I really liked Abby more and would have loved to read her POV. She could be both assertive and shy, and I could totally see that she was developing genuine feelings for Dora, despite Dora’s own cluelessness. And I just felt that Abby was more concerned about Dora’s visa situation than she was herself, which just made me slightly angry. However, I liked the way the uncertainty was resolved and the ending was very cute and optimistic.

The writing is very easy to read and I finished it pretty much in a single sitting. I think the author did a good job bringing Dora’s resignation (which almost felt like laziness) to life and then gave her that touch of inspiration to move forward with her future plans. It’s always great when the author is able to make me change my opinion about the main character and it definitely helped me come to agree with the direction the author took this story in. I also loved that both our main characters have supportive friends who always have their back. I always enjoy good female friendships.

Overall, this is a cute story of falling in love but I would have definitely loved to get to know the two MCs better. Give this a try when you want something short and fluffy.

This was a lovely, fluffy f/f short story about two women who accidentally get locked in a mall at night. There isn't much to say about it, but it was a nice light read.

This is a retelling of Rapunzel with two girls who fall in love. It was a lovely story that truly felt like a classic fairytale, except better because it had both main and side queer characters. It also touched on how important it is to see yourself in books and stories. I loved the side characters as well, and I was pleasantly surprised by Valentine's decision in the end, as well as the line of succession in Agnes's country.

This got a little personal towards the end and I'm not sure I can do full sentences, so quick list of the many great things in this book:

- cute f/f romance with artistic girls!!
- multiple girls of colour and discussion of latinx people being all kinds
- almost entirely female cast!
- female friendships, and several sapphic sidecharacters besides the main two
- clear discussion of boundaries in sex, character not being shamed for saying something doesn't do it for her
- 24-year-old virgin character who is not shamed by her friends
- girls leaves toxic family and is happy, but also reconciling siblings

Overall, I really enjoyed this book and the only things I didn't like are really "it's not you, it's me" things so I'm not even going to go into it.

This was a positive, light f/f read with a pansexual main character (!) and wonderful relationships, romantic and otherwise. I can only remember one male character in the book, otherwise it was a wonderful mix of girlfriends, female friends, sisters and just all kinds of relationships between girls, which was really refreshing to read.

I really liked the message that you can drop out of university and start something new - it's not the end of the word if the thing you planned doesn't work out, and you shouldn't let someone else decide what you're supposed to do with your life. I also really loved that it is about people working in a bookshop, which is like, The Dream.

That being said, the writing style was sometimes distracting - the present tense coupled with the narrator who described Chris's feelings in detail made me wonder why this isn't written in first person. This novella is also really short, which makes it a quick and fun read, but it also made me feel like everything was happening too fast sometimes. There is no real time for characters or relationships to develop.

Overall, it was wonderful to read about so many positive (LGBT) female characters with so many different, positive relationships. There is definitely room for improvement concerning the writing style, but I would still happily recommend this to anyone who is looking for a sweet f/f novella.

Fake girlfriend/wife tropes are always fun to read. So we were quite excited about it. Plus the cover was really attractive. However, this one left us feeling rather incomplete.

It is meant to be fluff for a short read (it’s a novella) and while it fulfills the fluff and short read aspects, it really doesn’t grab or capture the reader for any length of time. If a short read is the criterion, then Ab Kaāl’s Payback’s a Bitch and Everything Has Changed are much better options.

Though I like the sweet love story between the two main characters the thing that resonates the most with me is how Valentina feels when she first discovers the books that feature characters who most resemble her. As someone who grew up in the 80s without these kinds of reads it makes this discovery all the more bittersweet (and relatable). What a lovely, lovely read for that alone!!
