I've been obsessed with boating the Missouri River, so I read this ebook by a Brit who traveled the length of the Mighty MO by boat and sometimes just drove along the route. His outsider observations of America and Americans are pretty amusing for the most part.

It was great fun to read this right after reading Henty's "With Clive in India", thereby contrasting a 19th Century Victorian, British Empire, view of Clive with the thoughts of his 20th century descendant Peter Holt and of the many Indian people who spoke to Holt about their impressions of Clive's role in Indian history.
