I was recommended to this author since I live in the same general area as that in which the book is set. I bought his first book, 'Our Kid' and the sequel 'High Hopes' at the same time and read them one after the other. Both are autobiographical novels baed on the authors childhood and growing up in Manchester. I found both books quite enjoyable, moreso 'High Hopes', but neither really captured my imagination. I will not be rushing to read further books by the author.½
