I found this little book to be a useful companion to exploring this famous Psalm. Reading a chapter a day allowed me to chew over each phrase in the Psalm and not just allow the familiarity of the words to wash over me. I gained new insights into my own life and grew closer to God. At times I felt that some of the emphasis on the details of shepherding and the behaviour of sheep pushed the metaphor too far. I also found some of the writing on the shadow times to be a little simplistic. Even these bits of grit, however, provoked me to deeper thought and so served some purpose.

I would think that this would also be useful in a group study context, as there are questions at the end of each chapter that encourage engagement with the content presented.… (meer)
