Naomichi Io

This is a manga adaptation of a Japanese novel. I read the first two volumes and though it is not bad, I find it pretty bland and unoriginal. Basically, a bunch of loners and outsiders are thrust together into a school club to help them learn how to make friends, sort of like [b:Haganai: I Don't Have Many Friends #1|13539492|Haganai I Don't Have Many Friends #1|Itachi|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1341688825s/13539492.jpg|19101879]. The characters are pretty stock: the romantically-oblivious goodhearted boy with bad luck, the tsundere bitchy rich girl who is good at everything except making friends, the earnest bubbly girl with a secret crush, the fat geek boy. Three of the characters are linked by an accident in the recent past, though they are not all fully aware of the connection yet. The concept that their Service Club helps others allows the easy introduction of new characters and storylines. I wouldn't actively seek out volume 3, but I might pick it up if I stumbled upon it sitting on the shelf at my local library.… (meer)
