WoW! I am rightfully impressed. Very rarely do I have the opportunity to give a debut author a five star review. Usually there is something that I feel is missing, editing, characters talking and not knowing when to shut up, etc. I one-clicked on buy this book at the posting of another author and price point. I didn't know the synopsis or any details going in. Just some general facts and the title. I went in with an expectation, and came out in the end very, very pleasantly surprised.

"This awful, dark, evil pain that's fueling her for so many years now has no place within her, and yet she refuses to part with it."

Before I dive into why I was so impressed with the story, I'll just say that Mr. St. Jaimes can write a HOT scene that will melt your eReader where you feel it in your toes. They say women are verbal stimulated creatures, and his written bedroom scenes had my sheets on fire.

But there was a really great story here. One about grief. How it changes the course of your life. How it molds our futures, how we look at things and what it changes within us. Aidan and Essie are both dealing with grief from an unexpected death of family members. Not a new storyline, been told before. However, the way the two characters are dealing with their losses had me turning the pages for more. Aidan is one of those male characters that you love to love. Hot, sexy, in control, loyal and doing the right thing. But by far Essie - I just LOVED this girl. She is strong. She has convictions. She is no one's doormat. And she is tenacious. What I loved best, she is dark. Normally that is left to male characters of this genre. Not this story - it's our heroine.

I recommend you go buy and read this book now. Consider yourself warned, it ends with a WHAT?!?! But part 2 should be released sometime in September so we don't have long to wait to finish Aidan and Essie's story.

I have to start by saying that this is probably the first book that I have read since Steven King in high school that was written by a guy. I was on the fence and hesitant about how it would go especially being a debut Novel. Let me just say, I read the entire thing in one sitting and was totally blown away.

The writing and the story were phenomenal. The character build was amazing from the first sentence, I was hooked on finding out just why Essie hates Aiden and he knows but they are still in bed together. As the story progresses, the tears pour, the heartbreaks and the love of lost family is mourned. The angst and anger in this book kept the flow going, there was never a dull moment.

This book did end in a Cliffhanger, and I was a little shocked. I kept looking at how much was left, thinking, NO there has to be more to the story… Only to find it will happen in the next book. I am hoping that Mr. St. Jaimes does not make us wait too long, the need to know what happens to Aiden and Essie is strong.
