Jampol asks a lot of questions about opera as an art form, especially opera as an intersection of visual, dramatic, and musical art forms. There's also quite a lot about the profession, about the physical and emotional aspects of singing opera. The artists are all convincing and passionate even when their viewas contradict those of others in the book.
