I was given this ARC in return for an honest review, and as I have never read this author before I just have to say WOW! Rilla Jolly was still grieving for her dad as they held his wake under the carnival tent. She had grown up in the carnival and the members were all she had left of her "family", but she had some mighty big boots to filled stepping in as the Ringmaster. For over two years, the carnival had been plagued with one accident after another and the bank was demanding payment in a not gentle way, now to top it off an old rival was staking his right to be the next Ringmaster after an absence of over thirty years when her dad kicked him out!

Jack Knight tried to humor his dad but after his dad's heart attack his doctors told him to rest, yet now the fool wanted to run off and joined the circus, and with his mom's death a year ago, someone had to make sure he didn't over do it. Why a circus and after he saw him take control when all Rilla did was watch as the parade made its way down the street… (meer)
