The technological advancement in communication and entertainment has coincided with the enhancement of "free market," the idea of which now connotes national protectionism and the growth of large-scale military industry. The domineering set of phenomena that we call "globalization" includes unbalanced distribution of wealth, aggrandizement of corporate power, unstable economic systems, diminishing of public concerns, downfall of socialism, and insecure intellectual property rights. In this political and economic climate that is clearly reshaping the way we see the world, how do we concieve technology and media? Has the process of globalization changed the way we exchange our ideas and experiences across the cultural boundaries? The international symposium 2006 Move on Asia CLASH AND NETWORK is designed to raise and deal with these questions. It will attempt to offer an analytic scope on various aspects of today's "globalized" culture and arts.
