from the back cover: "Human rights are almost a luxury to us. We are struggling for human lives." The Rev. Zephania Kameeta, who made that statement in the course of an interview, is the vice-president of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Namibia. He considers himself "part of the suffering people of Namibia and part of their aspiration for liberation". This is what makes him an outspoken preacher and theologian. The writings included here are born out of the reality of suffering and the longing for liberation. Their background is that of apartheid and the oppressive structures based on it. Their perspective is that of biblical faith which provides both the mandate and the courage to confront the structures of oppression.
